Last Minute Trip Out With Friends

The original plan was to have doughnuts for breakfast, head over to see the finished chalk drawings from the street festival and then go see Igor (movie). Doughnuts were successful (of course!), but when we drove out to see the beautiful art on the street we were very surprised and disapointed to see that they already washed it off! From yesterday! By 9:00 in the morning! The artists had told me on Saturday that the chalk drawings would be on display for a week after the festival. We were excited to see our favorites complete. What a bummer! However, we took our lemons and made lemonade by heading over to the nearby William S. Hart Park and museum. More lemonade was made when we discovered that Monday is not the day to go there as everything is closed. We played in the open grass area (along side the bees and flies) instead. Kids had fun anyways. Next it was off to the movies! Yep, you guessed it. More lemonade. Should have know a movie entitled, "Igor" would be about an evil scientist, but I thought it would have been much more lighthearted than it actually was. With a few all-telling glances between Cathy and I across the kids in between us, it didn't take many "stupids" or "idiots" or "evil looking characters" to convince us to leave. 10 minutes into the movie (or less) we were at the bookstore (refund in hand) having a wonderful time. I told Cathy we deserved a pat on the back as the kids were 100% fine with leaving the movie and having more fun at the bookstore instead. Great day! Delicious lemonade! :o)

I just love how kids hold their friend's hands . . . so sweet. So precious!
