Magic Mountain with Cathy and Kids
and the Not So New Ambulance Ride
Went to Magic Mountain for the afternoon with Cathy and the kids. Had a great time! About a half hour after they left, the very unexpected happened. The day was great! Donuts in the morning, swimming, (check out the post below entitled "Fun in the Sun," looking at Jack, you'll never believe this was all the same day) naps, rides at Magic Mountain and then . . . scroll down you'll see where we ended up.

After Cathy left, Riley, Jack and I decided to go cool off on the Log Jammer (our new favorite ride). Jack felt a little warm. It was really hot outside. We all needed to cool off and since Jack felt unusally warm, I thought we'd ride the Log Jammer and then head off to first aid to seek out some Motrin for him. 99.9% of the time, I carry it with me. Of course, this time I didn't. If I had it, I would have given it to him and the night would have ended normal. Unfortunately, his temperature shot up on the ride and right before we headed down the first big hill on the ride, he began seizing. Poor Riley, she turned around and began laughing thinking Jack was goofing off and making funny faces. I had to tell her that this was what a "shaky body" looks like. This is the term she came up with to describe her seizures (she's had 2). The ride stopped abruptly, she smacked her face into the front of the "log," the ride attendant helped me get off the ride (Jack still seizing) with the kids and help came. Jack's seizure only lasted about 5 minutes. In our world of febrile seizures, that's short. Still seems like a lifetime when something is wrong with your kid. I was about to scale the mountain side holding Jack with Riley in tow when help arrived. We were taken by the emergency team to the paramedics and firefighters waiting for us at the back of Magic Mountain. For the first time, I had to be separated and send my baby off in the ambulance by himself due to a new law that restricts Riley hildren from riding in the ambulance with us (no car seat). That was a very awful feeling or as Jack would say, "That was not fun!" I was taken to my car and Riley and I met up with Jack in the ER. Chest X-Rays were taken and they showed a touch of what the ER Doc thinks might be bronchitas. He'll be on antibiotics, but no other signs of infection were showing. Looking, listening and watching him right before this all happened or even right now, you'd never guess that's how we spent our evening. We are blessed. He is great. We are all doing fine, but I'm telling you . . . I'm done with seizures (and I'm putting more medicine in my bag right now).
