Rainy Day Fun

I took the kids outside today so we could see the lightning, hear the thunder and count how long how long in between. (Okay, now that I actually write that I realize how stupid that was, especially after hearing about the Chatsworth house that caught on fire from lightning last night.)We danced in the rain, stomped around, played with and twirled umbrellas and had good ol' fashion fun, fun, fun! Riley said the thunder sounded like God stomping his feet (pretty cute considering she hasn't yet heard the kind of comments about God bowling upstairs and so forth. Guess the comments are inevitable and come from everyone eventually).

While I finished prepping for the day (work, Roo's soccer game, etc.) the kids had fun playing in the fort we made under the table (with a Halloween snack). I had to laugh because of an idea Riley had. I had one more recipie to prepare for work. Riley saw me and began getting the stool out. She said it would be so much better if she helps me because 2 people can do it a lot faster. Than Jack joined in of course. It didn't take 3 times as long as wasn't 3 times as messy at all. :o) We had fun though and Riley is getting really good at measuring flour, sugar and matching up fractions on the recipie to fractions on the spoons. All about perspective. I have to slow down and remind myself often of the teachable moments and memories that can be made in even the simplest acts.
